Insert bobbin counterclockwise
Place your bobbin inside. Make sure the thread unwinds to the left (counterclockwise direction). Guide the thread through the slit in the needle plate cover. This is important because it makes the thread enter the ‘tension spring’ of the bobbin case.

Swiftly pull up on the thread. The thread should unwind just slightly and the bobbin case should drop an inch or two. If the thread unwinds without resistance and the case slips to the floor, your bobbin tension is too loose. If the bobbin case doesn’t budge, your bobbin tension is too tight.
Where do you place the bobbin when you need to refill it?
Place the bobbin, with the holes on the top, on the bobbin winder. Put your selected thread onto the spool pin. Loop the thread around the thread guide, then pull the thread from the inside into the small hole in the top of the bobbin.
